The SMSB is a dynamic measurement system of the rail/switch system movement, designed and installed on the Metro C line of Rome for a series of specific test campaigns.
The system detects the vertical movements of the rails during the convoys passage in correspondence with a rail switch system. It is made up of displacement sensors positioned at the rail-sleeper attachment and a data acquisition unit.
The SMSB system made it possible to evaluate the absolute and relative vertical movements between the sleepers in correspondence with the rail switch system.
